Tuition Support for Library Media Specialists
Support is available to help you take the next step toward Library Media Specialist licensure. Explore funding options and apply for upcoming terms.

A new tuition support opportunity is helping grow the number of licensed library media specialists across Minnesota.
During the 2023 Legislative Session, funding was awarded to Minnesota Multicounty Multitype Library Systems (MCMT) to support individuals working toward Library Media Specialist licensure. This initiative is designed to strengthen school library programs by reducing financial barriers for those already serving in these roles.
Who This Supports
This program provides tuition support for individuals who:
- Are currently employed in a school district as a Library Media Specialist
- Have been accepted into a university program leading to Library Media Specialist licensure
- Are completing coursework specifically tied to this certification
Applicants may include those holding Tier 1–4 licenses. Please note that this funding applies only to coursework required for Library Media Specialist licensure—not an initial teaching license.
